What to Wear to a Fall Wedding

Share

It seems like more and more people I know are getting married in Fall! Though usually we think of Summer as “wedding season,” Brides magazine confirms that Fall is now the most popular season to get married. As a wedding guest, Fall weddings are another fun occasion to try out some of the best trends of the season or an excuse to buy a great piece you can wear again!

Cooler weather and gorgeous seasonal backdrops mean you can swap your summer wedding sundress for longer sleeves, a layered look, a maxi or midi dress, or even pair your wedding outfit with boots instead of sandals. All of which, as you know, are my faaaave ways to dress. There is nothing better (to me) than a long sleeve mini or maxi! Remember this gorgeous one I wore last year?
My fave colors to wear to a Fall wedding are jewel tones, earth tones, or (always appropriate) neutrals. Don’t be afraid to mix in some of this season’s trends: plaid blazers, velvet jumpsuits, leopard or snakeskin print.

Here are some great options for Fall weddings (or any social event, haha) on your calendar:

1// Denim Jumpsuit

I looooove jumpsuits for weddings! While a dress is the easy choice, at a wedding, a jumpsuit is a playful, fashion-forward option. Check out this one’s comfortable denim fabric that can be dressed up with heels and jewelry. The collar will frame your face and add some menswear flair, plus the belt makes it super flattering. You’ll be comfortable from the ceremony to the dance floor if you wear this to a Fall wedding!

2// Leopard Midi Dress

Did I mention I’m feeling the leopard print trend this Fall? LMAO. Of course, I did (sorry guys, can’t help it!)
This midi dress is the perfect style to wear to a fall wedding in 2018. A demure neckline paired with a fun side slit and saucy sheer fabric, you could dress this up for the wedding and re-wear it out to the hangover brunch the day after.

3// Floral Maxi Dress

“Ok, Shantel those are great options and everything, but WTF do I wear when I’m forced to be outside for the ceremony?!!!”
BABE, I GOT CHU. I personally love the comfort of wearing a maxi dress to a wedding, even outside! You’re better off, ensuring you’ve got a pretty one with sleeves. I love this mustard color and it looks gorgeous on almost everyone. Then you want to throw an accent piece over top, similar to the ones I mentioned above – a bomb leather jacket, printed blazer or a neutral one!
Finally, pairing this with boots would be a perfect fit for a barn or lawn wedding venue (because we all know what happens to heels in grass!)

4// Bold Oversized Blazer Dress

If you’re feelin’ bold like me most of the time lol, why not consider this oversized blazer dress? In a bold black and white pattern, you could layer this over a pair of pants, if it’s chilly or add tights and boots. I also love that this could go with so many colourful accessories! Bonus- you’ll look great next to the wedding party (esp, if they’re going the traditional route)!
