One of my favorite spots in the city is The Art Institute of Chicago right at E Monroe and S Michigan St. I wanted to capture this minimalist outfit in the actual institute..but when I got there it was closed for a private event *womp womp*! So needless to say, Ethan and I decided to shoot against the intricate architecture right outside of the building.
I picked up this cropped sweater from Zara late last month in a bout of pre-fall shopping. I’ve noticed in the past that when I hum and haa over (really good) pieces at Zara, because of money or season or just sheer laziness – I always miss out! Remember last year when the waterfall coat was all the fucking rage? Yeah well I remember seeing the sleeveless camel coat style in Zara when I was in Istanbul before it was in Toronto and I was like “OMG, that’s so not practical! My arms are going to be so cold.” Blah freakin’ blah, not thinking “It’s fashion you idiot, it’s not always going to be practical.”
So since, it’s always the pieces that we don’t buy that haunts us forever – that is #1 on my haunt list and although I vowed that I am taking a minimalist approach to shopping, I also don’t want to miss out on pieces that I would actually love and enjoy for years on years on years.
Honestly guys, I am in love with these sunglasses (as you can tell if you’re a regular here). I feel like they fit every outfit and are so classic by shape and nature. I love them so much that I bought two more in the exact same colour, just in case… Yeah, they’re that good.
I probably have over 20 different Red lipsticks (no joke). All different finishes, shades and undertones .. but in all honesty – this one from Sephora is definitely top 5..err top 2
I really, really like this cross body mini-messenger bag from Zara (Similar here, here and here)! Matte black with chevron detailing, gives some detail to otherwise a very basic piece (not to mention the cutest tassel as the side zip) with the ubiquitous yet still engaging Chanel-style chain strap. This bag is literally my go-to when I’m running errands (aka shopping) or when I’m heading out at night and need only the essentials.
Oh btw, these D’orsay pumps were a massive sale steal at Winners and I could not be happier; Comfortable, classic yet trendy! (Leather version here and here and Oxblood colour here)
