Denim on Denim, also known as the infamous Canadian Tuxedo! What was once a style insult to Canadians is now one of the hottest (and recurring) trends for the Spring/Summer season. The term Canadian Tuxedo originated in Regina, Saskatchewan in 1973 and was once a nod to the large assumption that all Canadians live in Log cabins and make Maple Syrup in our spare time (weather permitting, of course). I love that such an insult has now turned around into a style that is embraced globally, everyone from the Parisians and Milanese, down to the Aussies. While Canada’s footprint on the fashion world is relatively small, it’s nice to know that we created a small little niche for ourselves. So when I see a beautiful woman, Chanel bag in tow, walking down the street in Monte-Carlo with a denim blouse and her favorite pair of jeans .. I can smile and say “Made in Canada”.
