Hi ladies! I hope you’re been doing absolutely fabulous. I wanted to quickly dish on the best heat protectants for natural hair today given the fact that I haven’t been to the hair salon in almost 3 months and I don’t think I’ve ever gone that long since I was about 14 years old, haha!

Seriously, quarantining has brought out all different types of (mostly failed) attempts to style my hair and I’ve gone through quite a bit of products during this interesting time. One product that I always have in my roster is some sort’ve heat protectant given that even when I was visiting the salon regularly, I heat style my hair at home!
My hair also sheds way more than I’d like to admit..
So with that said, it’s of the utmost importance that I do my best to keep it healthy. I’ve used so many heat protectant products over the last few years that I can 100% recommend so I figured that now is as good a time as any to share them with you!
Then this is the product for you, lol. This is also ideal if you use a very hot hair straightener – if you’re usually cranking up your straightener to 400/450F (which I don’t recommend by the way, lol) or if you’re someone that heat styles your hair frequently (cough *daily* cough) then you neeeeeed this.

If you’re after a silk press look, this is the best heat protectant for that and you’ll notice if you go into any legit salon for a silk press – it’s highly likely that they’re using DE in the lineup.
Design Essentials is an incredible line for Afro Hair/Natural Hair – if you haven’t tried them out, I highly recommend.
EEEEEEEEEK! My second fave. This is my preferred product if I’m styling my hair or going out – Curls/Loose waves etc. It’s a really great protectant and styling product. Truthfully, I use this in conjunction with a leave-in to ensure I’m getting the most protection since my hair is thick and this is a spray. It smells incredible and *holds* my styles, curls in a way that a hairspray couldn’t compare to – almost like a hair primer? Don’t use too much if you’ve got fine/thin hair and you don’t need to apply this to your roots; mid-shaft and downwards.

This is the newest baby in my roster and she pulls her weight! Lightweight and effective – I love this combined with the Oribe for a smooth style. This one also helps keep frizz in order and is ideal for those that want a sleek look. This also works for thin hair/fine hair – use a little bit but you’ll definitely be pleasantly surprised!
Another salon option that has finally made its way to the rest of us, lol. KeraCare is another faaabulous hair care line for Black hair and the creme press is no different. This works for 3b/3c, relaxed hair, 4c hair or even when you want to keep your hair buttery and coiled in its natural state. It is definitely worth the hype. A little bit goes a long way and if you’re hair is fine – I wouldn’t necessarily skip but I would be cautious with how much I use. Seriously, it’s the BOMB!
