5 Sunscreens for Darker Skin Tones

Share

Summer is in full swing and we know that our skin is important, but can the non-ashy sunscreen please stand up? No worries, here’s a great (but not exhaustive) list here of 5 SUNSCREENS THAT *ACTUALLY* WORK ON ALL SKIN TONES (+ my personal fave)!

Black Girl Sunscreen, SPF 30 – This one has been gaining popularity over the last little bit and I can’t wait to try. It’s Oxybenzone, Fragrance & Paraben Free, which definitely makes it a cleaner option and it has a loyal cult following.

Glossier Invisible Shield, SPF 30 – This is another easy breezy fave. The consistency is almost clear and goes only really smooth. If you’ve got crazy oily skin, I may look for another option or set with a tiny bit of powder.

Paula’s Choice CLEAR Daily Hydrating Fluid, SPF 30+ – Oily and/or acne prone skin? This is the one for you. This is a moisturizer and sunscreen in one – incredibly lightweight and fluid oh and no white cast either.

Skinceuticals Ultra Facial Defense, SPF 50 – This is another on my must try list, but it comes with rave reviews. I do prefer that it’s an SPF 50 as oppose to SPF 30 and TBH I’ve never tried a product from Skinceuticals that I didn’t like. Everything they do it with such care and thought, I have no doubt that this is the same.

Soleil Toujours Extrème UV Face Mineral Sunscreen, SPF 45 – This is a mineral based sunscreen, so def a cleaner option, ideal mixed with a face oil so you can spread it well. There’s an ever so slight white cast that dissapates after about 5 or so minutes.

MY PERSONAL FAVE:

Murad White Brilliance Luminous Shield SPF 50+ – No surprise if you follow me on InstaStories that this is my absolute fave sunscreen. Doesn’t break me out – isn’t greasy and isn’t incredibly drying. I prefer to apply this separately but if I’m feeling lazy, I will absolutely mix it in with my moisturizer. My only negative feedback is that while it works amazing on me, not sure how it would fair on someone who’s 4+ shades darker than me. Worth a sample or a try because it really is my fave.
